Maria Musa (22), one of the Seleka rebel movement's new recruits. She joined after they took control of the city and ousted President Francois Bozize. She is one of thousands across the city that are volunteering to join the rebel group. Seleka have promised to pay the new recruits GBP 65 per month. Maria said she joined because she was unemployed and had nothing better to do. Rebel group Seleka ousted the Central African Republic President in a Coup d'Etat in March 2013. They immediately began enlisting unemployed youth into their ranks. These youths were given a brief training, armed and sent out to patrol the city. However, chaos has ensued as coup leader Michel Djotodia and his new government struggle to control their soldiers. Looting is widespread and there are regular clashes between different Seleka groupings.
