Mariam Issa preparing food for her family. They survive on the meagre rations donated by the United Nations World Food Programme (UN WFP). According to WFP statistics the average dry content of a ration is 300 grams per person per day. Mariam and her six children have lived in this camp for internally displaced persons (IDPs) for eleven months. They had to flee their home when Janjaweed militias attacked and destroyed their village.
