Sinazongwe near Lake Kariba, ZAMBIA

Mrs Mangubi collecting drinking water from a hole in a dried up riverbed half a kilometre from her house.
Mr and Mrs Mangubi are struggling to feed their five children during a drought despite being only a few kilometres away from Lake Kariba. Many of the farming families here were forcibly moved from their old land which was flooded to create the Kariba dam Hydro Electric station. All the water from the dam is pumped 30km from the lake to the mining town of Maamba, leaving nothing for the nearby villages.
