National anthems being played before the start of the opening group stage match at the other official Euro 2008 football tournament: the European Championship of Mountain Villages. The hosts FC Gspon drew with Italians FC Piedemulera 3 - 3 in a nail-biting match. The tournament was held at their summer training ground, standing at 2008 metres above sea-level, and surrounded by 4000 metre alpine peaks. It is the highest football pitch in Europe, and reachable only by cable car, or a long walk. Amateur league teams from eight countries took part.
