New houses built close to Kosovo A, a lignite power station. This is the oldest and most polluting of Kosovo's two power stations. It has no filtration system and is estimated to pump 2.5 tons of lignite dust into the atmosphere every hour, this exceeds the EU limit by 74 times and is said by the Kosovo Ministry of Environment to be responsible for 63 percent of baby fatalities and 48 percent of stillborn babies in Obiliq/Kastriot (Serbian/Albanian) the town nearest to the plant.
