Nurse Indri Hastani, also the patient's sister, removes a bandage from a splint on Hendik Maret Diasto's leg at Marsudi Waluyo Hospital where he is being treated for a snake bite. Diasto was bitten on the ankle while he and his brother were hunting palm civets for sport in a forest about 30 minutes motorcycle ride from their home. Hunting at night, and barefoot to avoid making any sound, Diasto said he saw the snake slither away after feeling the pain of a bite. He said he had seen snakes there before, and so always watches his step. His brother is a nurse and immediately took him to the nearest clinic, where antivenin (antivenom) was administered. Diasto was then referred to Marsudi Waluyo Hospital, which was some four hours away.
