Polykastro, Kilkis, Greece

On the afternoon of Sunday 13 September Syrian refugee Aysha and her daughters Bisan, two (R), and Sham, three (L), wait at the regional bus station of Polykastro in Kilkis to board a bus that will take them to their final destination in Greece, the border village of Idomeni. The station master says that since the refugees and migrants started using the Balkan route their bus company, which was on the brink of bankruptcy, had become profitable again.
Photographer Georgios Makkas followed the journey of Aysha and her children as they arrived on the Greek island of Lesbos and then made their way to Munich.
