Aytunc Akad

Gulf of Iskenderun, Mediterranean Sea, TURKEY

Pelicans wait to see what the fishermen of Iskenderun Bay leave behind. The bay is known for having plentiful stocks of jumbo shrimp and goat fish, as well as being the spawning ground for sharks and sea turtles. But like most coastal areas in the region, Iskenderun Bay is under threat from intensive fishing techniques, which are decimating local fish stocks and polluting the waters.
