People made homeless by flooding are rescued by boat from an evacucation centre established at Thammasat University. It subsequently became overwhelmed by floodwater. Large parts of central and northeastern Thailand have been severely affected by the worst flooding for seventy years. More than 650 people have died and thousands made homeless by the floods. Initially they were triggered by tropical storm Nock-ten and exacerbated by La Nina which caused a lengthened rainy season
