Bukavu, DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC OF CONGO

Policemen posing in front of a bust of Laurent-Desire Kabila, former president of the Democratic Republic of Congo, who was killed by his own bodyguards. Shortly after, in January 2001, the office was taken over by his son Joseph Kabila, born in 1971, who has been president ever since. D.R.Congo's national police are known for the massive spread of corruption and sexual assault on the country's women.
