Tobruk, LIBYA

Protesters stand on the rooftop of a mosque in Tobruk. Someone waves a flag which has become the symbol of 'the new Libya'. In fact the flag goes all the way back to when Libya was a kingdom. On 17 February the country saw the beginnings of a revolution against the ruling Col Muammar Al Gaddafi. Rebels now seem to control Tobruk after a pivotal attack on the city's police station. In total between 150 and 200 civilians have been killed in violence during the uprising in this area alone.
