Recently, after ten years of neglect, this disused oil well in the village of Okoritak was fitted with new parts. The villagers fear they will be forced to move without compensation. They are also angry because the waters are polluted by a nearby Exxon Mobil oil facility. Unlike their neighbours across the river the village has not received any benefits from the oil company.
