Riek Machar during a conference with his Nuer community in Addis Ababa, where he discussed his futurre plans for South Sudan after a peace deal has been signed.
South Sudan president Salva Kiir signed the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) Plus peace deal in Juba on August 26 while rebel leader Riek Machar had already signed it the week before. Salva Kiir mentioned that he had reservations about how the mediation was conducted. The peace deal is meant to end almost two years of brutal civil war and will see Riek Machar return as vice-president.
