Kiev, UKRAINE

Riot policemen standing outside the presidential office are presented with flowers by supporters of opposition presidential candidate Viktor Yushchenko. The mass protest was called after allegations that Viktor Yanukovich had won the election by fraudulent means. The peaceful 'Orange Revolution', which saw thousands of people take to the streets, led to the results being quashed. A rerun held on 26/12/2004 resulted in Yushchenko being elected president.
