Sehi-Chi Kimura clears damaged debris and burns damaged stubble in his field in Halamachi town near Minamisoma. Minamisoma is about 24 km from the failed Daichi nuclear reactor that was damaged in the recent tsunami and falls within the compulsory exclusion zone of 20 km and the recommended exclusion zone of 30 km. On 11 March 2011 a magnitude 9 earthquake struck 130 km off the coast of Northern Japan causing a massive Tsunami that swept across the coast of Northern Honshu. The earthquake and tsunami caused extensive damage and loss of life and damaged reactors at the Fukushima nuclear power plant.
