Smoke billows from the Kosovo A power station. Kosovo has two power stations, both run on Lignite (dirty coal) and neither provide enough electricity for Kosovo's needs. The US Embassy has recently placed an Air Quality Monitor on its Embassy in Prishtina which monitors pollution levels in real time. It shows that Prishtina often has hazardous levels of pollution (300 + is deemed hazardous, recently Prishtina reached a level of 403).
