The family of Ratu Kinivuwai Canacagilevu, who was killed in Iraq in May 2007. From left to right are his niece Grace, sisters Melu and Latileta Ravuya, and his mother Bulou Marekuri Ravuya at the family home in Suva. Thousands of young Fijian men have signed up to join the British army. They do so mainly for economic reasons, as job opportunities in Fiji are scarce. Many recruits who enlist for army positions in engineering or logistics end up on the front lines of Britain's continuing conflicts.
