Odaka, Fukushima, JAPAN

The inside of a home left empty is reflected in the window of an empty street scene in Odaka inside the forced 20km nuclear exclusion zone near Minamisoma. Workers have been unable to return to Odaka to clear the debris or search for bodies. Odaka is 19 km from the failed Daichi nuclear reactor that was damaged in the recent tsunami and falls within the compulsory exclusion zone of 20 km. On 11 March 2011 a magnitude 9 earthquake struck 130 km off the coast of Northern Japan causing a massive Tsunami that swept across the coast of Northern Honshu. The earthquake and tsunami caused extensive damage and loss of life and damaged reactors at the Fukushima nuclear power plant.
