The mining village of Morococha is 4,600 meters above sea level and produces silver, copper, lead and zinc. 6,500 inhabitants work for the American mining company Pan American Silver and the Austrian company Austria Duvaz. Mining is responsible for 25% of Peru's Gross National Product.
