The remains of a body unearthed by the Missing Persons Task Team during a search at a cemetery in Zeerust. The team were looking for the remains of Richard 'Muzorewa' Mapela a MK (the armed wing of the African National Congress) fighter killed in a skirmish with apartheid police in 1978. His remains were never recovered. The team was unsuccessful on this day but continue to search for him.
The Missing Persons Task Team was established to recover the remains of those who disappeared under the Apartheid regime using forensic anthropological and DNA-testing techniques.
