Thea Holmqvist stands outside an abandoned house in Burea, where she grew up. She moved back here with her partner Jonte and is now the fourth generation of Holmqvists who live here. 'The best part is that we are so close to everything I need. If I didn't have a connection to this house, I would have liked to live even more secluded.'She is careful to support the local businesses and buys most of her goods and food from local producers. She can find almost everything - from shoes to soap and cheese in the region of Vasterbotten.Thea thinks that things could improve in Burea. The nearest train station is in Bastutrask, an hour away, and only a few buses go to Skelleftea, the closest city. 'On the other hand, Burea is quite spoiled in terms of culture. Boliden or Burtrask seem less privileged.' She is tired of politicians who invest more to facilitate commuting instead of investing in workplaces. 'You can't put any money here and say that you are investing in the countryside!'
