Three officers from the "Sharia Police" reprimand a young couple who have been caught together on the banks of a river. The Sharia Police (or Wilayatul Hisbah - Sharia Authority) is a police unit unique to Aceh which is tasked with overseeing the observance of Islamic qanuns (local laws) that include the prohibition against consumption and sale of alcohol and the ban on association between unmarried couples in some situations.
