Three young children lie on matresses outside a tent in in Kharaz refugee camp where summer temperatures can reach 50 degrees Celsius. The camp holds roughly 15,000 mostly Somali migrants, half of whom are children. The United Nations Refugee Agency (UNHCR) has raised concerns over the record numbers of Ethiopians and Somalis flocking to Yemen, despite the deteriorating security situation there. In 2011 103,000 migrants crossed the Gulf of Aden and Red Sea. Most arrive dehydrated and malnourished and face physical and sexual attacks. They are regularly robbed and attacked by smugglers and traffickers.
