Athens, Greece

Tourists disembark from a Blue Star Lines ferry that has just docked at Athens' port of Piraeus, coming from one of the Greek islands. Tourism - a mainstay of the Greek economy - has been affected by wide ranging cancellations by holidaymakers worried about the outcome of the current Greek financial crisis.

On 5 July Greeks voted 'no' in a referendum which asked whether they were prepared to accept the conditions suggested by the 'troika' (the International Monetary Fund, the European Central Bank and the European Commission) before being given extra financial support and bailout funds. The outcome of post-referendum negotiations could determine whether or not Greece remains in the Eurozone and if it will continue to receive further financial assistance from the 'Troika'.
