Tuvalu's head meteorologist Hilia Vavae stands in front of Lotonui Community hall during high tide. The tiny Pacific Island nation of Tuvalu is one of the few places in the world already experiencing the devastating effects of climate change and global warming. Due to the rising sea level, erosion, and extreme weather events, the island nation is shrinking and may eventually disappear.
