Two men walk on the marble surface in front of the opera house. The construction of the new opera house was the largest single cultural-political initiative in modern Norway. It took five years to build and cost an estimated 500 million Euros. The building, which rises out of a fjord, was designed by the Norwegian architectural firm Snohetta.
