Two workers stand on part of a man made wall some 1.4 kilometres out to sea, off Victoria Island, that is part of an ambitious scheme to reclaim an area of 9000 square metres from the ocean. Eventually 95 million cubic metres of sand will be pumped into the area between this barrier and the current oceanfront (that is visible in the background) in order to create a new city, Eko Atlantic. This development will contain residential, financial and commercial districts and up to 250,000 people will live there with a further 150,000 commuters arriving each day.
