Beltracchi, his wife Helene, and two accomplices sold these as original works by famous artists including Max Ernst, Heinrich Campendonk, Fernand Leger and Kees van Dongen. In 2011, Beltracchi was sentenced to six years in prison and Helene Beltracchi four years. Wolfgang is still serving his sentence, but is allowed to leave prison every day for 15 hours. He now pursues a career as a painter in his own name.
