Woman walking with two camels, transporting drinking water from a well back to her settlement. Most of wells in the area have dried up or the water is too salty to drink. A severe drought has extended across East Africa after the rainy season which was expected in October 2005 failed to arrive. Levels of rainfall in the region have been far below normal putting millions of lives at risk. Most rural dwellers in the southernmost area of the country rely on two rainy seasons and two dry seasons per year.
