Youths line up to fight on a deserted beach during the Pajura ritual, an annual, somewhat secretive communal boxing match held between competing village boys. Starting after midnight and continuing until dawn the event is staged on a randomly chosen beach two days before the Pasola horse fighting festival begins. The objective and scoring system is vague, with kudos given to the bravest participants who break from his side to wrestle down opponents from the other. The event takes place in pitch darkness with only the light of the moon to see by.
