15 year old Simso Ntombi outside his home near Loskop in the Drakensberg mountains. Simso is one of four sons of Ntombi Mbele, who is too ill from Aids and TB to look after her children. The head of the household is Lihle, eldest daughter of Joyce Mbele, Ntombi's sister who died from Aids in early 2008. Child-headed households such as this are becoming more common in South Africa, as the Aids epidemic continues to ravage the country.
