Yaekela, Democratic Republic of Congo

A Bitis Gabonica (Gabon viper). A huge fat viper, with a broad, white, flat, triangular head and body with a remarkable geometric pattern which grows to around 1.75 metres. A slow-moving, placid, nocturnal viper, spending much of its time motionless, hidden in leaf litter and thick vegetation.
