George Osodi

Utorogun, Warri, Niger Delta., NIGERIA

A boys drinks water from a tin cup while beyond him the burning flames from a gas flare fill the sky behind him. After Russia, Nigeria has more gas flares than anywhere else in the world. It is considered a safe way to burn off the excess gas that is a byproduct of the oil production process. In reality, as well as being a waste of resources, the pollution produced is toxic and a serious health hazard to people living in the Niger Delta.
