Tegucigalpa, Honduras

A businessman shot dead at close range lies in the doorway of a vehicle, a piece of cloth thrown over his corpse. It is not known why he was shot but businessmen are often murdered for not paying ‘war tax’ to criminal gangs. Honduras has the highest murder rate in the world. Last year there were 90.4 homicides per 100,000 people, almost double Venezuela's rate of 53.7, and four times Mexico’s rate of 21.5.
