A female contestant, wearing evening dress, takes part in the Y+ beauty contest in front of more than 300 spectators at the Sheraton Hotel. The first edition of the competition took place in 2014. In 2019, the 4th edition, sees 16 candidates of which the youngest is 15 years old and the oldest, 24. The Y+ beauty contest is national competition with the message that people with HIV can also be beautiful, externally and internally. Participants compete for the titles of 'Miss' and 'Mister Y+'. The 'Y' stands for youth and + for HIV positive.
