A funeral in the Luo community. Dorcas Apamo's husband Jarred has died of AIDS, and she receives condolences from other members of the clan. According to ancient Luo customs, a widow is obliged to have sex with a specialised ‘cleanser' to be purified. She is then inherited as a wife by her brother in law. The consequence of the ritual is that AIDS has taken on epidemic proportions in the tribe.
