Wardak, Afghanistan

A man man crouches next to the lifeless body of Baz Mohamed, a young boy who had just died from injuries caused by a 'butterfly mine'. The mines, dropped by Russian (Soviet) helicopters, have 'wings' so that they land gently, and as they are brightly coloured and look like toys, children often pick them up, causing them to explode.
