Ahikam Seri

Wadi El Na'am, ISRAEL

A member of the Zanoon family walks next to the ruins of one of the five family houses demolished by Israeli authorities, in the unrecognised Bedouin village of Wadi El-Na'am.
As well as the "usual" problems of living in an unrecognised village (such as lack of infrastructure and regular demolition of their homes), residents of Wadi El-Na'am suffer from two added environmental nuisances. They are directly in the path of discharges of Bromide and other chemicals from the nearby industrial area of Ramat Hovav, causing breathing disorders among other health problems. The village also sits under high voltage pylons.
