A Naga sadhu rests in his tent during Ardh Kumbh Mela. Considered as saints and removed from the Hindu caste system, Nagas are the strictest sect of Sadhu (Hindu ascetics). The Ardh (Half) pilgrimage, one of the world's largest gatherings of people, occurs every six years in Allahabad (Prayag) at the confluence of the two holy rivers, the Ganges and the Yamuna (Jamuna). It is believed that the two rivers are also joined by a third, mystical river, the Saraswati, which has no physical form.
