A nun at the Sebeta Getesemani Nunnery works at a sewing machine making clothes which are then sold in the nunnery shop and at the local market. The nunnery, which is home to 105 nuns and over 200 orphans, was established by Empress Menen, wife of Haile Selassie, and has a primary school that provides education to over 1,140 children from nearby villages.
