A settlement on the border between Mali and Algeria, deep into the desert. Many migrants get stuck in places like this because they are broke. Often they have paid all their money for what turned out to be false promises. By working for the Touareg people, they can earn a little money in the hope eventually to finance the next stage of their journey. In a so called guest house or safe house for illegal migrants there is a drawing of a bus pinned on the wall, with destination Tamaressette, the first major city in Algeria on the other side of the desert. But as long as there is no road and official bus service, travellers for now depend on the cartels of Touareg transporters.
