A traffic policeman receives a set of tagged keys for a motorbike they have impounded during a spot check. They are impounding the motorbikes of people who are not wearing helmets or those not carrying sufficient paperwork. In the background is a young man who will now have to pay the equivalent of around GBP 5.00 to get his bike back. Following a peace deal with the central government Aceh is now classified as a Special Region and life is recovering after the devastation inflicted by the 26 December 2004 tsunami and decades of armed conflict. Tourism, agriculture and its own natural resources are driving the economy of the region which is the first in the mainly religiously moderate archipelago to formally instigate Sharia Law.
