A view out to sea from from Shark Bay, a World Heritage Site on Australia's western coast. The bay is 800 km north of Perth, the state capital and has the western most part of the Australian mainland in at its edge. These images are part of an ongoing project called 'Hope', a conceptual project about the vulnerability of human existence on earth. The ambition is to photograph environments which are almost impossible for humans to live in, places that are beautiful in their starkness. These environments are places where hope and optimism are inextricably intertwined with doubt and uncertainty. The lack of human life in these images emphasises the vulnerability of human life on earth.
