As part of their pledge to cut emissions by 70 percent by the end of 2017, and in response to the Chinese government's plan to start levying a green tax in January 2018, Singamas, the manufacturer, switched to finishing their containers with water-based paints which release less toxic fumes than previously used oil-based varieties.
