Freetown, SIERRA LEONE

Abu walking through the Wharf Area in Freetown where he shares a hut with a friend of his. After being released from prison Abu started learning motor mechanics as part of his reintegration organised by the charity Free Minor Africa. In 2010, Abu was serving a two year sentence in Freetown's Pademba prison for stealing a purse with another boy. The prison was built for 220 people and regularly houses over 1,000 inmates. [The second part of this photographic project was made possible with funds which Fernando Moleres received from the Tim Hetherington Grant in 2012]
