Aicha (13) with Attika (39) arriving late at school. With a critical lack of information on contraception among young people, Aicha found herself pregnant with Attika, whom she will marry shortly on a customary basis. The legal age of official marriage is 18. Unwanted pregnancies, poverty and the weight of traditions lead to early marriages. The latter have greatly increased with the first confinement and the closures of schools for several months, as well as with the economic crisis linked to COVID-19, Unicef predicts that this virus will be responsible for 10 million early marriages of by 2030. Aicha wants to continue school but in the end it will be her husband who will decide.
