Rio de Janeiro, BRAZIL

An indigenous tribesman dresses in traditional face and body paint for a protest inside the Museu do Inndios, a dilapidated museum next the Maracana Stadium. In February, the city tried to evict the indigineous families living inside the former museum which led to a long-term protest. The families were squatting there until the city named the place a historical site and the city wanted to tear down the building and replace it with a shopping mall. A wave of civil unrest swept the country during 2013/14 as people denounced poor public services, rising costs of public transport and the cost of staging the 2014 World Cup and the 2016 Olympic Games.
