Andre sits in the back of an ambulance having just arrived at a military hospital in an undisclosed location close to the frontline with a few comrades who went directly to the operating theatre. He was injured by shrapnel fragments in his torso but especially in his legs, but he calmly insisted on smoking a cigarette before being moved elsewhere.
Most of the soldiers at the hospital have been wounded by shrapnel from Russian artillery shells during fighting outside of Bakhmut and towards Luhansk.
