As heavy fighting continued in the nearby town of Irpin, a steady stream of tired, mainly elderly, civilians were evacuated to safety. They gathered at an aid station on the outskirts of Kyiv where they were checked by security forces and treated for medical issues before dispersing and being put on busses to Kyiv's main train station.
