At an UNICEF-supported Primary Health Centre in Camp 18 of the Kutapalong mega Rohingya refugee camp in Cox's Bazar, Hamida (18) rests next to her as-yet unnamed baby (at the time of the photo) to whom she has given birth just 12 hours earlier. This is her first child. In Myanmar there were no such health centres close to her village, she said ''I feel safe and can rest without worry, the birth made me very tired.'' In the refugee camps, a network of Public Health Centres now provide round-the-clock routine maternal and neonatal care. The focus now is on persuading mothers to make use of the expanded services, undertaking their full quota of antenatal check-ups and delivering their babies under proper medical supervision.
